The average annual cost of living for one adult is $28,474. But this average may be misleading as living costs vary significantly across the country.
The cost of living in Hawaii, for instance, is almost double the average (96.3 per cent higher). The monthly cost of living for a family of four is $4,580 (or $54,960 a year).
