Despite its location in the Middle East, the UAE experiences all four seasons of the year: winter, spring, summer and autumn. Overall, though, the country has a desert climate. It sees mild winters and harsh summers with high humidity. Traditionally, the annual precipitation has remained below 100 millimetres (four inches).

The UAE government’s cloud-seeding initiatives have seen success and there has been significantly more rainfall in recent years.

The rains and storms that the country has witnessed in recent times have been linked to climate change with experts predicting a rise in rainfall, temperature and humidity. In 2017, a report by Emirates Wildlife Society-WWF suggested that, by 2050, the temperature during the summer months could rise by up to 2°Celcius, with a 10 per cent rise in humidity.

Dubai has two distinct seasons: summer and winter. Summer begins around the end of April and lasts until the end of August. This period is characterised by hot weather and winds. The UAE is among the 10 sunniest countries in the world. According to the rankings based on 1961-90 averages, it sees 3,609.4 hours of sun a year. This means that tourists and residents are guaranteed sunlight almost 365 days of the year!

Add the crystal-clear waters that the country is blessed with, and you have a perfect spot to cool down and chill. There are, of course, several water theme parks, too, but the beaches are free and you may visit them every day of the year if you’re so inclined.

Being a coastal country, the UAE boasts of pristine beaches with crystal-clear waters, excellent family facilities, and beautiful wildlife.

You can never get bored of the skyscrapers and the malls but if you ever do, there’s always be a beach within reach. The UAE has a stunning coastline with some very picturesque beaches. The length of the beaches (coastline) in the UAE is an impressive 1,318 km along the Arabian Gulf. Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with their manmade islands, have added hundreds of kilometres of beachfront in recent years.
