The Crime Index ranks the UAE as the third safest country in the world, with a safety index score of 84.55 and a crime index score of 15.45. The capital city has been ranked the world’s safest city for the fifth year in a row, with Sharjah and Dubai among the top 10. According to the 2020 Global Law and Order Report by global analytics firm Gallup, the UAE was ranked in the top ten countries in the world for security and personal safety. The UAE ranked ninth on the overall Law and Order Index behind countries including Austria, Switzerland and Singapore.

The UAE had been ranked the third safest country in the world. It outranked Japan and Switzerland by the global database Numbeo in its rankings for 2020.

The crime rate in the country is relatively low compared to other highly industrialised nations. In comparison to similarly-sized cities worldwide, Dubai’s crime rate is significantly lower.

The UAE is ranked fourth among countries where people feel safe walking alone at night behind Norway, Turkmenistan and Singapore. The data recorded is based on a variety of parameters including confidence in the police, sense of safety when alone at night, theft and other criteria.
