Did someone say biggest (or tallest, largest, deepest)? Gotta be Dubai, then. Float Dubai, the world’s largest floating nightclub, will soon open in the superlative city. Float Dubai will be located on the permanently-docked Queen Elizabeth 2 hotel. The venue will boast an exclusive, private outdoor club with a 1,000-person capacity.
Float Dubai’s private outdoor club will be on the highest deck of the QE2, with a lounge on the deck below. Open Thursdays to Saturdays in the night (10pm to 3am), the venue expects to become a must-visit site for the ultimate night out for residents and visitors.
Float Dubai will showcase local as well as international DJs and artists alongside other entertainment programmes. Authentic Japanese sushi, Latin and Pan-Asian cuisine will be among the culinary highlights.
The venue will open in early October 2021. The restaurant will be free to enter but reservations will require the commitment of a minimum spend.
The ship with a colourful past

The QE2 offers an array of dining and nightlife venues. A retired British ocean liner, the famous cruise ship became a Dubai property in November 2008. It is now a floating hotel with 224 rooms. Dubai bought the cruise ship for $100 million and another $100 million on its renovation.
A former symbol of British heritage, QE2 is now a 13-deck hotel. It now permanently docks at Mina Rashid Dubai. In its previous avatar, it conducted more than 1,400 voyages around six million nautical miles. QE2 was a part of 25 world cruises between 1969 and 2008. It carried 2.5 million passengers in total and the ship circumnavigated the globe at least 25 times. QE2 was also the only ship to have a synagogue at sea. Approximately 600,000 litres of beverage were consumed annually onboard the QE2.
The ship’s main attraction — the museum — looks back into her early days as an ocean liner, mapping her 39 years of service. After her final voyage in 2008, QE2 was handed over to Dubai-based owner, a government entity.
