Africana Home

Africana Home is the UAE’s first African kitchen located behind Deira’s Gold Land building. You’ve got to try the Suya, a spicy sheesh kebab (skewered meat). The thinly sliced meat is marinated in several spices which include peanut cake, salt, vegetable oil and other flavourings, and then barbecued.

Catfish DXB

Near the Dubai Police Academy in Al Sufouh 1 is Catfish DXB, a West African restaurant offering dishes popular from the region. It’s USP? The menu is 99 per cent gluten-free with Vegan and Keto options. The restaurant’s signature bowls combine flavourful ancient African ingredients with contemporary culinary techniques. Try the Talking Drum bowl, which is glazed salmon, jollof rice, plantain, smashed avocado, mango slaw and sauteed amaranth greens.

KIZA Dubai

KIZA Dubai is located in Emirates Financial Towers in DIFC. The African fine-dining restaurant, promoted by a Nigerian, stands out for lentil and pepper soups, Mango Salad, BBQ grilled chicken wings and African Meat Patty. Taste here Kele Wele, deep-fried spicy battered plantains served with a garnish of peanuts. Try Nyama Choma or Kenyan grilled meat. Everything from the decor to the music played is infused with African spirit.

The City Grill

Located in the Atrium in Al Habtoor City, The City Grill offers a rich South African dining experience. The restaurant’s sophisticated décor and ambience complement the intense flavours of a wide selection of South African dishes. The Crab Roll and the Duck Liver Terrine make for perfect starters while the Surf & Turf (rump steak with jumbo prawns and calamari) is a favourite of those who frequent this place.

Enish Restaurant and Lounge

Enish Restaurant serves dishes from the diverse culture of Nigeria, but with a special twist. You’ve got to try its Chef’s Special, the 24-Karat Gold – which is edible gold-plated pounded yam, Eba or amala. Or try one of its many special soup meals with your choice of meat — Bitter Leaf Soup, Banga Soup, Edikang Ikong, Oha, or the Afang Soup, etc. The Up North Specials — Miyan Kuka or Masa, with your choice of meat.
