If you love Afghan cuisine with its unique flavours and combinations to satiate the appetite, here are Dubai’s five stand-out Afghan restaurants, in no particular order, offering flavoursome dishes.

Shahista Restaurant & Café

In Al Garhoud near GGICO Metro Station, Shahista Restaurant & Café is famous for tender Chapli Kebab, Manto, delectable dumplings stuffed with choice of meat and the luscious Chicken Kadahi.

Afghan Khorasan Kabab House

In three locations — in Al Quoz, Naif and Mankhool — the Afghan Khorasan Kabab House offers specialities to savour in an authentic Afghan Majlis. Not to be missed are the Afghan Mutton Tikka and the Afghan Kebab Kofta, which are charred on foot-long skewers and paired with tasty Afghan Pulao or bread.

Kabul Darbar

Kabul Darbar has two branches in Dubai: one on Khalid bin Waleed Road and the other on Naif Road. Both offer their signature dish, the Afghan Pulao with Seekh Boti. The delicacy features basmati rice prepared with carrots and nuts and is cooked with large pieces of succulent lamb. The side dish is the slow-cooked lentils soup and soft Afghan bread.

Kabana

Located in Jumeirah 3, Kabana’s Loghmeh Kebab, a yoghurt-marinated chicken, stands out along with the traditional delicacy Ashak (fluffy dumplings served with tomato sauce and yoghurt).

Bayman Afghan Restaurant

In Bayman Afghan Restaurant in Bay Avenue in Business Bay, the signature dish is Qubuli Pulao, a platter of fluffy rice spiced with cumin and cardamom. It is paired with tender lamb shanks and topped with almonds and carrots. Kadu Borani, a pan-fried traditional flatbread stuffed with spiced pumpkin, makes for a great appetiser.
